Dedicated DSP Performance

Extreme-C provides the processing power behind demanding Waves workflows, delivering real-time plugin processing with exceptionally low latency. Designed specifically for SoundGrid environments, it allows engineers to run extensive plugin chains without placing additional load on the host computer, creating a responsive and reliable mixing experience in even the most demanding production environments.

Built for the Realities of Live Production

Live sound demands consistency under pressure. Extreme-C combines purpose-built hardware with a system optimised exclusively for audio processing, providing the stability and predictability required for touring, broadcast and mission-critical applications. Designed to perform night after night, it delivers the confidence needed when every show matters.

Form, aligned with function

Extreme-C occupies only half the width of a standard 19-inch rack. Its compact footprint makes it equally suited to permanent installations, mobile production systems and fly-pack deployments, where space, weight and efficiency are often as important as performance.

Rack-mounted, transportable, and designed to sit alongside the rest of the system without redefining it.

Seamless System Integration

Extreme-C integrates naturally with the wider Waves ecosystem, working alongside LV1 consoles, SuperRack and SoundGrid networks as part of a unified platform. By separating plugin processing from the control system, it creates a streamlined workflow that remains scalable, flexible and easy to deploy across a wide range of audio applications.

Immediate by Design

The Waves Extreme-C is built around that idea, delivering real-time plugin processing with round-trip latency as low as 0.8 milliseconds at sample rates from 44.1 to 96 kHz.

Whether in the studio or on stage, processing happens in the background, leaving only the experience in the foreground. Fast enough to feel invisible, powerful enough to handle hundreds of plugins in real time.

Engineered for the Road

Housed within a durable metal chassis and equipped with integrated network and temperature monitoring, Extreme-C is built to withstand the demands of professional deployment. Its rugged construction, efficient thermal design and compact form factor make it equally at home in touring racks, broadcast facilities and fixed installations where long-term reliability is paramount.

Paired with the Waves Axis Scope and mounted together on a WAVES Rack Shelf for 2U Half-Rack SoundGrid Devices, this forms a compact and efficient processing solution for Waves systems. Combining dedicated control and processing hardware within a minimal rack footprint, the configuration simplifies deployment while maintaining the performance, reliability and connectivity required for live sound, broadcast and installed audio applications.

FAQs

  • The Extreme-C delivers ultra-low latency as low as ~0.8 ms, depending on system configuration and sample rate.

    This makes it suitable for:

    • Real-time insert processing
    • Monitor mixing
    • Live vocal and instrument processing
  • One of its key advantages is its portable form factor:

    • 2U height, half-rack width
    • Lightweight and travel-friendly
    • Can be mounted side-by-side for redundancy

This makes it ideal for compact fly rigs and touring systems.

  • Yes. The Extreme-C is commonly used in redundant server configurations:

    • Primary + secondary DSP servers
    • Automatic failover within SoundGrid systems
    • Dual mounting (two units in one rack space)

This is standard practice in touring, broadcast, and mission-critical environments.

  • Yes. Multiple Extreme-C servers can be used to:

    • Increase total DSP capacity
    • Split processing across systems
    • Provide redundancy

This is common in larger live and broadcast systems.

  • All three servers run the same Waves SoundGrid DSP engine and provide identical audio quality. The differences are in processing capacity, form factor, and power supply design.

    • Extreme-C: Compact, high-performance server designed for portable and mid-to-large systems
    • Titan: Higher processing capacity, full 2U rack format
    • Titan-R: Same processing capacity as Titan, with dual redundant power supplies
